A Divine Mercy Apostolate to praying for the Sick and Dying

Jesus I Trust in You
Saint Faustina’s Motto was
“GOD AND SOULS”
Our Lord asked her to pray and offer the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for sinners and the dying, saying:
“Pray as much as you can for the dying. By your entreaties (that is,
insistent prayers) obtain for them trust in My mercy, because they have most need of trust, and
have it the least.
Be assured that the grace of eternal salvation for certain souls in their
final moment depends on your prayer.
You know the whole abyss of My mercy, so draw upon it for yourself and
especially poor sinners. Sooner would heaven and earthturn to nothingness than would My
mercy not embrace a trusting soul” (Diary, 1777)
Jesus further promised
“At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when other say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same” (Diary, 811)
“My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Saviour” (Diary,1541)
ESTABLISHING A DISCIPLES OF MERCY APOSTOLATE
The Apostolate is essentially parish based established under the authority of the parish priest. At least one parish coordinator is required to organise a group of people who are prepared to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet regularly for the sick and dying.
The names and telephone numbers of the co-ordinator(s) are included on all posters and brochures which should be available on church notice boards etc. The Parish coordinators are responsible for passing on prayer requests to the Disciples of Mercy.
Disciples of Mercy groups should make their own arrangements how best to operate within their parish, taking into account the ability of members and comprise a mix of individual prayers, prayer groups or as appropriate visits to private home, hospitals, hospices or rest homes.
Only with the permission of the sick or dying person or their immediate relatives will Disciples of Mercy members actually visit the person for whom prayers are requested.
APPROVAL/INTRODUCTIONS
The Disciples of Mercy Apostolate was founded in Wellington, New Zealand in 2011.It has been approved by Archbishop John DEW and was introduced at the Wellington Eucharistic Convention in March 2011, and also at the New Zealand Apostolic Congress on Mercy in August 2011.
USAGE
The concept of the Disciples of Mercy is free to be used anywhere and can be adapted in any way to suit particular situations. It is designed to be a simple uncomplicated apostolate with a minimum of organisation. We would however appreciate feedback so that we can see how it spreads throughout the world and include such information on this site.
